Air Ventilation to Protect Against Infection

Colder temperatures force us to stay indoors more, so how can we decrease our risks inside?

In addition to wearing masks when we're around people we don't live with and staying physically distant, we can improve airborne risks by improving air ventilation.

Some simple measures to improve air ventilation include:

🏠 Opening windows when the weather permits.

💨 Position fans to circulate air out of the building.

💠 Keep your home's fan running at all times rather than using the "auto" feature to only have it on with the heat or AC.

🔁 Open outdoor air dampers beyond minimum settings to reduce HVAC air recirculation when weather permits.

🌑 Replace filters in the heating/cooling system regularly.

💠 Consider portable high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) fan/filtration systems to help enhance air cleaning.

💡 Consider using ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) - talk with an installation expert and evaluate portable systems.
