I'm starting a new adventure

in collaboration with Dr. Nerissa Bauer

I am so excited to be starting a new adventure!

Anyone who knows me knows that I have a passion to help families who love someone with ADHD learn to manage the symptoms to learn to thrive in life.

As a pediatrician I’m able to diagnose and prescribe medications to treat some of the symptoms of ADHD, but I also know that learning about ADHD and using other tools to help address common symptoms is important. Unfortunately, many families find many hurdles that prevent this learning. I can’t teach it all in short clinic visits. That’s why I’ve been an active volunteer with the KC Metro CHADD chapter, ADHDKC, since it started in 2012. I want to share as much information for families as I can, so I have worn many hats in this fabulous group!

Because I’m always looking for things to share on both my practice and ADHDKC’s social sites, I found Dr. Nerissa Bauer’s TEACH Me ADHD class years ago. It’s a one-of-a-kind class taught with a detective theme. Parents and kids learn together through missions and deeds. I’ve followed and recommended it for years because the way it’s taught is imaginative and interactive - things needed to keep people with ADHD engaged. When it was announced that they were looking for others to teach the class, I knew it was something I wanted to do.

There is a background of wrinkled brown paper. A red top secret stamp and a cartoon of a girl dressed in an oversized trench coat and holding a detective looking glass are on the right. Calling all detectives. Learn about teach me a d h d. Join me for an upcoming mini-class simulation. January 27 3 p m c s t, january 28 3 p m c s t. January 30 5:30 p m c s t. Hosted by dr. kristen stuppy.

Now that I’ve been behind the scenes at HQ, I love the class even more!

TEACH Me ADHD has a very well-written script (thanks to the creativity of Dr. Bauer) that makes learning about ADHD FUN! It engages kids (and parents) through weekly deeds and missions to help them practice skills between weekly trainings.

When kids and parents take this course, it is an INVESTMENT in their future.

At the end of the 8 weeks, you and your child will have: 🕵️‍♀️ a common language with which to talk about ADHD 💡 tools and strategies in your toolbox for nurturing executive functions 👩‍👨‍👧 dedicated family time having fun and learning how to see things in a positive way 👀 clear understanding of what your family role is and what elements are needed in your child’s ADHD care plan

Together kids and their trusted adult participate in hour-long interactive training missions weekly for 8 weeks. The interactive mission meetings train participants to become Sr and Jr Detectives by collaborating to uncover clues and working on weekly deeds and family missions while having fun!

Later today is my first free 30-minute mini-class simulation for both kids and parents to meet me and get a taste of what to expect during a training mission meeting.

Inside the FREE Mini Class, you’ll: 🔎Experience what a TEACH ME ADHD meeting feels like 🔎See and interact with other children 🔎Get to ask questions about the class 🔎See firsthand the power of learning in a group Mini simulations are offered: 📅📅 January 27th and 28th at 3 PM CST 📅 January 30th at 5:30 PM CST Participation in a mini-class is not a pre-requisite to join us in February.
